---Book Condition Grading---
We attempt to provide a clear and honest grading of each book. The condition of a book is given in the form of VG/VG, FN/VG, VG/--, etc. The first part is the condition of the book; the second part is the condition of the dust jacket if one is present. If there is no dust jacket, "/--" will appear. Normally only hard cover books may have dust jackets, although not all hard covers do, particularly older books. Soft cover books usually do not have dust jackets.
• New - The book is in the same immaculate condition as it was published. There are no defects.
• Fine (FN) - Approaches the condition of As New, but without being crisp. The book has no defects. Any defect on the dust jacket is noted.
• Very Good (VG) - Describes a book that does show some small signs of wear. Any significant defect is noted.
• Good (G) - Describes the average used worn book. Any significant defect is noted.
• Fair - Worn book that has complete text pages, but may lack endpapers, etc. Binding and jacket (if any) may also be worn. All significant defects are noted.
• Poor - A heavily worn book that is good as a reading copy only. The text is complete. All significant defects are noted.
--- Payment Methods ---
We happily accept a variety of payment methods:
• Credit card payments (VISA, MasterCard, and American Express) though PayPal. (Note: payments will appear on your credit card statement under ARMCHAIR BOOKS or ADVENTURES & HOBBIES)
• E-checks through PayPal. (Note: payments will appear on your statement under ADVENTURES & HOBBIES)
• Personal checks*. We hold your order until your check (made payable to "ADVENTURES & HOBBIES") clears through the banking system which may delay your shipment up to 10 days.
• Money Orders*. We prefer USPS Money Orders as they can be presented for immediate payment. Other Money Orders are subject to a hold as personal checks noted above. (All MOs must be made payable to "ADVENTURES & HOBBIES")
*IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are paying by Money Order or check, please mail your payment within 3 days of placing your order. Please make all checks/MOs payable to "ADVENTURES & HOBBIES". We will only reserve your book for 10 days. If payment is not received within 10 days, we will have to cancel your order. Thank you.
--- Shipping - Domestic Only---
We ship all of our orders through the United States Postal Service (USPS). We have shipped thousands of orders through the USPS over the years and have found their service to be excellent, convenient and reasonably priced in relation to other shipping providers. The shipping prices in your order reflect the cost of shipping by USPS Media Mail. Please remember that Media Mail is an economic option for most of our items, but recognize that it is slower than other USPS services and receives lower priority, particularly around the December holiday season. If you need faster shipping, please CONTACT US prior to ordering to receive a shipping quote for USPS Priority Mail (be sure to include your shipping address in your request). All domestic shipments include Delivery Confirmation. Insurance is not automatically included. If you wish to add insurance on your order, please contact us as soon as you have placed your order.
--- Shipping - International ---
We do not offer international shipping at this time. Thank you.
--- Sales Tax ---
If you live in New York State, we are required to collect the appropriate state and local sales tax. This is not something we have any control over.
--- Order Processing Time ---
We normally prepare your order for shipment within 2 business days of payment. We typically ship orders three times a week. Once we have presented your package to the USPS, the rest of the delivery cycle is out of our control. However, based on our years of experience, the USPS has provided a remarkably timely delivery service based on the various mail classes. Media Mail is an economic option for most of our items, but please recognize that it is slower than other USPS services and receives lower priority, particularly around the December holiday season.

We strive to provide our customers with the same level of excellent customer service that we expect in our own purchasing. We attempt to provide accurate descriptions of each product and guarantee that the item will be as described when we ship it. We take care in packing each item properly. Our customers have been overwhelmingly pleased with our efforts. If you have any issue with your order, please contact us within 5 days of receipt.
